Afolki sells Berber carpets treated and cleaned according to the best standards.
When using the Berber carpet we suggest following these simple cleaning and conservation operations. Berber carpets are very resistant and easy to maintain and care for. Use the vacuum cleaner regularly at a moderate speed to remove dust and dirt because this procedure helps to regenerate the fibres; use with caution on fringes. In general, it is good practice, to prevent the Berber carpet from wearing out abnormally, it is best to turn it once a year or more frequently in the case of carpets displayed in public places such as hotels, shops and showrooms.
What to do if the Berber carpet …
1) stains due to liquids:
in most cases relating to the spillage of liquids on the carpet it is sufficient to dab and wipe with a cloth with hot water, without rubbing. If you have used an abundant quantity of water to remove the stain, it is necessary to lift the carpet off the ground to allow it to air and dry quickly by taking in air on both sides. You can also use a hair dryer, making sure the air jet is not too hot so as not to damage the color of the carpet.
2) stains due to solids:
remove them with the dull part of a knife or a spoon.
3) stains with fatty or oily foods:
this can be remedied by using a light shampoo followed by cold water. Avoid aggressive detergents. Wool carpets are naturally oil-repellent and detergents can destroy or damage the carpet's natural oil.
A general rule to remember to understand if a cleaning product can be used is to ask yourself this question: would I use it on my skin?
If you want to put it to rest or stop using it for a more or less long period of time, remember to roll it up (do not fold it) and protect it with a moisture-proof cover, storing it in a dry place.
Maintenance takes place through 4 phases:
1. washing with natural soap and manual cleaning
2. rinse thoroughly to eliminate all residues
4. patination with natural materials to restore the original conditions.
