Milano design Week - Boutique Malìparmi 17-22 Aprile 2018

During Milano Design Week, Afolki will be in the Malìparmi boutique in Via Solferino no. 3 to present “Boucherouite” a new collection of Berber rugs with a 100% female tale of art to tell. You’ll find us in the Brera district, in the heart of the city, during the week devoted to the Fuorisalone, the furniture event that attracts crowds of designers, creatives and aficionados from the furnishing sector.

“Afolki rugs have always been one of the hallmarks of our boutiques”, explained Annalisa Paresi, the president of Malìparmi, “speaking of a word both far removed and close to the Malìparmi universe in terms of artistic language and roots. The Boucherouite rugs in particular are both primitive and ultra-modern, offering a burst of colour and energy; contemporary, yet deeply rooted in tradition. This is a universe that transmits passion and vitality, the same characteristics that enliven our brand.”

The Boucherouite rugs in the new 2018 collection are the result of a careful selection process conducted in a number of villages, house by house, regarding women, sometimes gathered together in cooperatives, who are the real heirs to an ancient Berber culture handed down through the splendid combinations of colours, patterns and symbols, present on clothing, tattoos, home furnishings and the rugs in the Afolki 2018 Collection.

This is a universal, feminine system only women are able to understand, starting out from the heart and transmitted to the hands with exceptional creative power. It is this simple form that conveys positive energy and combines Afolki’s inventive talent and research with the creativity of Malìparmi.
